Animals, Birds and Fish mentioned in the Holy Quran

 

In holy Quran many fruits, vegetables, meat and drinks have been mentioned. These foods items should be included in the daily diet patterns to stay healthy and fit. Many Quranic verses can be found that have mentioned the name of fruits and meat and highlighted their important in nutrition. Scientific studies have further confirmed there nutritional value hence leaving no space for uncertainty. Muslims are permitted to eat only certain types of meat of animals, birds or fish depending on the condition of halal or haram. Here’s a list of animals and birds along with related verses mentioned in the Quran.

 

Cattle

 

Cattle have been mentioned in the Quran about 34 times. Here’s a verse that cites it: “Eat and pasture your cattle, (therein); verily, in this are proofs and signs for men of understanding.” [20:54]

 

Birds in general

 

“Do they not see the birds above them, spreading out their wings and folding them in? None upholds them except the Most Beneficent (God). Verily, He is the All-Seer of everything.” [67:19]

 

Camels

 

“Do they not look at the camels, how they are created?” [88:17]

 

Calves

 

“Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahîm (Abraham) was mainly cows].” [51:26]

 

Cows

 

(He said): “O Yûsuf (Joseph), the man of truth! Explain to us (the dream) of seven fat  cows whom seven lean ones were devouring, and of seven green ears of corn, and  (seven) others dry, that I may return to the people, and that they may know.” [12:46]

 

Sheep

 

He said: “This is my stick, whereon I lean, and wherewith I beat down branches for my sheep, and wherein I find other uses.” [20:18]

 

Seafood

 

“And He it is Who has subjected the sea (to you), that you eat thereof fresh tender meat (i.e. fish), and that you bring forth out of it ornaments to wear. And you see the ships ploughing through it, that you may seek (thus) of His Bounty (by transporting the goods from place to place) and that you may be grateful.” [16:14]

 

And Quails, goats, and hoopoes.
