The Holy Books of Islam

There are five holy books of Islam revealed to different prophets for different races. These are:

  • Qur’an
  • Injeel
  • Zabur
  • Taurat
  •  Suhuf Ibrahim (Scrolls of Abraham)

The last and final book of Islam is Quran. It was a revelation brought to Prophet Muhammad by the angel Jibraeel. This book is in Arabic language. It took a period of twenty-three years for the Prophet to receive the complete word of God.

Injeel is the name of the holy book revealed by Allah to Hazrat Isa (Jesus), according to Islamic belief. It is written in Aramaic or Hebrew .Injeel is referred to in verse (3:3) of chapter (3) sūrat āl ʿim’rān (The Family of Imrān):

“Allah revealed the Quran upon you with you (Muhammad) with truth to confirm what He revealed before it and He revealed the Injeel and the Torah.”

Zabur was the holy book of Dawud (David).

Tawrat (Tawrah or Taurat) is the Arabic word for the Torah. It was a holy book of Islam given by Allah to Hazrat Musa (Moses). The Hebrew word for their scripture. As per Quran all the prophets governed by the Tawrat.

Lo! We did reveal the At-Taurah, wherein is guidance and a light, by which the prophets who surrendered (unto Allah) judged theJews, and the rabbis and the priests (judged) by such of Allah’s Scripture as they were bidden to observe, and thereunto were they witnesses. So fear not mankind, but fear Me. And barter not My revelations for a little gain. Whoso judgeth not by that which Allah hath revealed: such are disbelievers. (Quran 5:44)
