Things to Do in Ramadan

Here’s a list of easy and good deeds to do throughout Ramadan:

  • Sitting after Fajr prayer to recite Quran and doing zikr of Allah until sunrise.

“Whoever prays fajr in congregation, then sits remembering Allah until sunrise, then prays 2 rakats of salat has a complete reward of (Nafil) Hajj and Umrah. (The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) repeated the word ‘complete’ 3 times for emphasis)” [Tirmidhi]

  • Attending lectures in masjid or listening to them at homes instead of wasting time on internet, movies etc
  • Reading Quran before and after every namaz.
  • Visiting the sick or any relative/friend who has a quarrel with you
  • Providing food to the needy and poor people for breaking their fast.

“Whoever provides food for breaking of the fast for a fasting person receives the reward of the fasting person, without the reward of the fasting person being reduced in any way.” [Tirmidhi & Ibn Majah]

  • Be charitable to others and control temper. Bite your tongue, remember Allah and recite Bismillah. Just be patient whatever happens
  • Give sadaqah as much as possible in these days.
  • Have quality time with Allah. Getting overwhelmed by life in this month is bad because this is the time to renew relations with Allah.

The Qur’an says (the translation of which means): “When you are free from your affairs, then turn to your Lord.” Wake up in the night and pray as much as is easy for you. Stay in seclusion (i’tikaf) if you can for a part of the month, even if it’s only a weekend.

  • Seek the night of laylatul qadr. Worship Allah in these nights as much as possible. This night is better than 1000 months.
  • Pay zakaat al-Fitr on time.
  • Pray forgiveness of oneself and all Muslims
