Just Say Alhamdulillah

“And if you would count the favours of Allâh, never could you be able to count them. Truly! Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” An-Nahl:18

Did you eat breakfast in the morning? Did you sleep well in your cozy bed? Did you wear new clothes? Did you notice the flowers that bloomed in your garden? Did you drink water when you were thirsty? Did you spend money on shopping? And while doing all this didn’t you forget something very vital? Yes you definitely forgot!!! You forgot to say thanks to Allah who bestowed you with everything. He (swt) gave you food to eat whenever you felt hungry, He gave you shelter to cover your head, He gave you clothes on your back, He gave you eyes to see and cherish the thing that make the world beautiful, water to quench your thirst, money in short  everything.

Blessings and favours of Allah are endless. Consider the human body. The body consists of one hundred trillion cells. The cells combine to form tissues, tissues combine to form organs and finally organs combine to form organism. Now we look at it from our prospective; each cell is a blessing of Allah and each cell or blessing manifests itself in innumerable ways. Moreover, each cell is exposed to an incalculable number of potential threats, from viruses to cancer to a variety of malfunctions, and Allah through His mercy protects the cells from all of these. Therefore, we can never begin to enumerate the blessings that Allah, at every moment, bestows upon us within our bodies. The body is one example but if we ponder on other things that Allah has given us then our little human mind would be stuck in a loop of infinity forever.

So considering all the blessings that have been bestowed on us, what should we do in return for Allah the Almighty? Only one thing can be done and that is to thank Him. Just say the word “Alhamdulillah over and over again. We can never thank Allah completely for everything He does for us but we can be a small part of it.

And (remember) when your Lord proclaimed: “If you give thanks, I will give you more (of My Blessings), but if you are thankless, verily! My Punishment is indeed severe.” (Ibrahim 14:7)
